Deleting a category
When you delete a categoryCMS: a built-in Episerver property, you apply a category to content, but you need to build the functionality to display the filtered results. Commerce: a category is a grouping of purchasable products. (Same as node.), the following happens depending on how the category is linked to other catalog entries:
- If the category is linked to catalog entries that are also linked to other categories, all links to the deleted category are completely removed, and other category links are left intact.
- If there are categories, productCommerce: various forms of merchandise that you can display and purchase from the public site, including products, variations/SKUs, bundles, packages and dynamic packages.s and variantCommerce: a variant or SKU corresponds to a specific type of product with specific characteristics. For example, a product line of shirts have individual variations/SKUs that include size, color, and collar size.s that are linked only to the category to be deleted, these entries are also deleted.
You cannot recover a catalog entry after you delete it. When you delete a category with many subitems, the deletion may take some time to finish.
To delete a category, select it in the catalog tree, click Delete from the context menu, and click OK to confirm the deletion. You can also click Delete from the context menu for the category in the item listing, or from the upper menu.
To delete multiple catalog entries at the same time, select the entries in the item list and click Delete.
