Shipping and receiving
Completing the order processing includes these tasks:
- Completing the shipment by preparing the physical package to be shipped.
- Creating picklists for picking up the physical items in the warehouse.
Shipping and Receiving are split into two areas: shipmentCommerce: a collection of products from a purchase order, ready to be shipped after going through inventory check and other verifications. and returnCommerce: manages exchanges and refunds for faulty or unwanted products..
- A shipmentCommerce: a collection of products from a purchase order, ready to be shipped after going through inventory check and other verifications. controls items released for shipping and picklistCommerce: The list used in a warehouse to collect the physical items for a shipping., or items that are packed and prepared for shipping or ready for pick up.
- Returns are incoming items that are returned by customers for some reason, such as faulty items that need to be replaced by exchangeCommerce: replacing a faulty product with another one.. Optimizely processes returns similarly to outgoing shipments, and manages returned items as incoming packageCommerce: a sellable unit that contains variants and/or other packages, with a single price; similar to an SKU because it must be purchased as a whole (such as a computer system).. You can track them at Order Management > Shipping/Receiving > Shipments > Returns.
The Shipments view contains the following information.
- Order Created. Specifies when an order was created. This is useful, for example, if you want to ship orders by date and time.
- Last Modified. If changes were made to an order, the last modification date appears here.

Shipping methods are specified in the Administration > Shipping methods section of Commerce ManagerOne of several main user interfaces in Optimizely Commerce. This UI area, available from the top menu after logging in, provides screens for managing markets, customers, catalog, orders, and so on. You can manage the information on some Commerce Manager screens in other, newer user interfaces. Where possible, we recommend using the newer ones..
- Address. The address that the package is being shipped to.
- Warehouse. A warehouse is (most likely) a physical location where you store goods before delivery. You can select any warehouse in the system. Remember to select the correct one when attempting to check for shipments.
You can change the Default Warehouse in the Administration section of the Commerce Manager. If you have only digital products, the default warehouse is adequate.
